Starting a Brain Bowl team is easy!
If you have interested kids and a place to practice, you’re almost there.
How often should we meet?
There is no best way to practice, so find a schedule that works for you. You can meet as a school club, a lunch-time activity, or before/after school. Meet once a week or meet multiple times. Many schools recruit parents to help with practice. The most important thing is to keep it fun…and if the kids learn a few things along the way, even better!
Where do I find questions?
You can purchase practice sets from our official question provider, Question Authorities, or you can find questions on Amazon, or you may be able to find free resources online. You can use any questions you have available for practice, but remember that Brain Bowl questions are focused on academic topics and do not include pop culture trivia.
What do I use for buzzers?
Buzzer systems are nice to have, but not mandatory for practice sessions. Teams just starting out may have players slap the table to buzz in. If your students have smart phones, you can use the free website Buzzonk.com as your buzzer system. Coaches (or parents!) with DIY skills can build buzzer systems for less than $50. Or if your school has the funds, you can purchase commerical buzzer systems.
